Why choose a prepaid calling card?
I'm sure this is the question that comes into everyone's mind at first. Why not use the regular service? What's so different and good about calling cards so that I want to use them? Well, it's really quite simple. The regular phone companies use a different technology, which is far more expensive and therefore they have higher costs, which reflects in your monthly bill. That doesn't mean that they couldn't lower their costs, but since the money are coming in, this is not an option for them. However, YOU have an option.
Calling cards have been a growing business for the past 10 years, from the very early beginnings, marked with lots of problems, until the stable industry it is today. At this moment, you can find a lot of suppliers of calling cards, with relatively similar rates. As the technology will get even better in the coming years, it is expected for this to play a major role in the communications business worldwide.
The main reason why calling cards offer such low rates to call internationally or domestic is because the technology used is different: companies selling phone cards use a combination of VoIP (Voice over IP) and regular lines to get a balance between call quality and low prices. Plus, since the calling cards are pre-paid (meaning you pay in advance for the amount you think you'll talk), there are some other costs reduced, like the ones for collections or debt retrieval.
And if the low rates and quality are not good enough for you, here's another reason: YOU have control over how much you pay. I'm sure that it happened at least once to receive a huge bill and not know how it happened… Not a very pleasant feeling, is it? Well, with calling cards it's different. You put a certain amount (usually you can find calling cards for $5, $10, $20, $50) on your calling card, use the talk time at your convenience – you can check at any time the balance on the pin – and if you decide to get some more, just repeat the process. It's THAT easy. No bills, no hassle. Enjoy your calls without having a huge bill that says AT&T or Sprint on it, while having low rates and good connectivity.
