What is an ANI?

You might have heard the terms “ANI dialing” or “PIN-free dialing”. They're one and the same. ANI stands for Automatic Number Identification and this is a feature offered by some phone services to make it easier for the customer to use the system.

If the service offers such a feature, all you need to do is register your US phone number in their database and whenever you will dial from a PIN-free telephone number, the system will no longer ask you to dial a PIN number. The service will go directly to a voice prompt asking for a destination number. Unfortunately this feature does not work for international numbers.
